The Reserve Rules & Restrictions

Membership General

1 Membership is non-transferable.
The Reserve membership is issued to one individual and cannot be shared, sold, gifted, or transferred to another person.
2 Member must be present.
All membership benefits — including discounts, complimentary tastings, and experience pricing — require the named member to be physically present at the time of purchase or visit.
3 One membership per person.
Each individual may hold only one active Reserve membership at a time.
4 Age requirement.
Members must be 21 years of age or older (wine and alcohol benefits require legal drinking age).
5 Membership is annual with automatic renewal.
The Reserve membership runs for 12 months from the date of enrollment. Membership will automatically renew at the then-current standard rate unless the member opts out prior to the renewal date.
6 Terms subject to change.
Hill Country Chocolate reserves the right to modify membership benefits, pricing, rules, and restrictions at any time. Members will be notified of material changes via email with reasonable notice.
7 Membership may be revoked.
Hill Country Chocolate reserves the right to cancel any membership at its sole discretion for abuse of benefits, violation of these rules, or conduct detrimental to the business or other customers. Refunds for revoked memberships will be prorated.

Membership Card

8 Card must be presented.
The Reserve metal membership card must be presented at the time of purchase or visit to receive in-store benefits (discounts and complimentary tastings). Staff may verify membership by name lookup if the card is forgotten, at their discretion.
9 Card remains property of HCC.
The membership card is the property of Hill Country Chocolate and must be returned upon membership cancellation if requested.
10 Lost or stolen cards.
Report lost or stolen cards immediately. One replacement card will be issued at no charge. Additional replacements may incur a fee.
11 Do not lend your card.
Allowing another person to use your membership card is a violation of these terms and may result in membership revocation.

Store Discount (20% Off)

12 Applies to member purchases only.
The 20% discount applies to purchases made by the named member while present in-store or logged into their account online.
13 Cannot be combined with other discounts or coupons.
The 20% member discount cannot be combined with other promotions, discount codes, coupons, sale pricing, or any other offer unless explicitly authorized by Hill Country Chocolate. Only one discount may be applied per order.
14 Exclusions.
Unless otherwise specified, the 20% discount does NOT apply to:
  • Gift cards and gift card purchases
  • Wholesale and corporate orders
  • Orders exceeding $500 in a single transaction
  • Items already marked as clearance or final sale
  • Items already discounted or on promotion
  • Third-party products not produced by Hill Country Chocolate (if applicable)
  • Shipping fees
15 Discount does not apply to shipping.
The 20% member discount applies to product purchases only. Shipping fees, when applicable (summer Express shipping, multi-ship orders, corporate orders, non-continental US orders), are not subject to the member discount.
16 Online discount.
For online purchases, the member must be logged into their Shopify account associated with their membership to receive the automatic discount. Discount codes issued to members are for their personal use only and may not be shared publicly.
17 No retroactive discounts.
The member discount cannot be applied retroactively to past purchases made before enrollment or to purchases made without presenting the card or logging in.

Complimentary Tastings

18 Per-visit benefit.
Each visit entitles the member to one complimentary tasting consisting of 2 glasses of wine and a chocolate pairing slate.
19 One tasting per visit, maximum once per week.
Members may receive one complimentary tasting per visit, with a maximum frequency of once per calendar week.
20 Member must be present.
The complimentary tasting is for the named member only. Guests, family members, and friends do not receive free tastings under the member's benefit.
21 During regular tasting room hours only.
Complimentary tastings are available during normal tasting room operating hours and are subject to availability and staffing.
22 Responsible service.
Hill Country Chocolate reserves the right to limit or decline alcohol service in accordance with Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) guidelines and responsible service practices.

Premier Experience Discount (20% Off)

TBD — The method for administering experience discounts (member portal, discount code, or other mechanism) is still being determined.
23 Member must be present and attending.
The 20% discount on premier experiences (tastings, pairings, classes, events) requires the named member to be part of the attending party.
24 Applies to the member's party.
When a member books an experience and is present, the 20% discount applies to the full booking for their party.
25 Booking must reference membership.
To receive the discount, members should identify themselves as Reserve members at the time of booking. Retroactive discounts on already-completed experiences will not be applied.
26 Subject to availability.
Experiences are subject to normal availability and scheduling. Membership does not guarantee availability for sold-out events.

Wine and Chocolate Shipments

27 Shipment curation is at HCC's sole discretion.
The selection of chocolate and other items included in the spring and fall gift shipments is entirely determined by Hill Country Chocolate and is subject to change at any time. Specific products or brands are not guaranteed. For members with the Wine Selection add-on, wine curation is also at HCC's sole discretion.
28 Two shipments per year.
Members receive two curated shipments annually, targeting spring (February/March) and fall (November/December). Exact timing may vary based on production schedules, inventory, and shipping logistics. Members also receive a welcome chocolate box within the first week of enrollment.
29 Free economy shipping.
Reserve members receive free economy (standard ground) shipping on all online orders shipped to the continental United States. This benefit is subject to the following restrictions:
  • a. Summer months (June, July, August): Due to heat sensitivity, all chocolate shipments during June, July, and August are shipped via Express service only. Express shipping is not covered under the free shipping benefit. Members will be charged the applicable Express shipping rate at checkout during these months.
  • b. Corporate orders: Free shipping does not apply to corporate orders, bulk orders, or orders placed through a corporate purchasing account.
  • c. Multi-ship orders: Free shipping does not apply to orders shipped to multiple addresses (multi-ship or split-ship orders). Each shipping address will be charged the applicable shipping rate.
  • d. Alaska, Hawaii, and international: Free shipping applies to the continental US (48 states) only. Shipping not available for Alaska, Hawaii, US territories, or international addresses.
  • e. Oversized or heavy orders: Hill Country Chocolate reserves the right to charge actual shipping costs on orders that exceed standard package size or weight thresholds.
  • f. Upgrade option: Members may choose to upgrade from economy to expedited or express shipping at any time but additional charges will apply.
  • g. Wholesale orders: Free shipping does not apply to wholesale orders, orders from Amazon, Faire, or other third-party marketplaces. Please contact info@hillcountrychocolate.com for our wholesale program for more information.
30 In-store pickup available.
Members may opt to pick up their shipments in-store at no charge. In-store pickup must occur within 30 days of shipment notification.
31 Wine shipping restrictions.
The Reserve Wine Selection add-on is available to Texas addresses only due to alcohol shipping compliance requirements. Wine cannot be shipped to addresses outside of Texas. Members outside of Texas are not eligible for the Wine Selection add-on. Shipping availability by state may expand over time.
32 Adult signature required for wine shipments.
All shipments containing alcohol (Wine Selection add-on members only) require an adult signature (21+) upon delivery. Failed delivery attempts may result in the shipment being returned to HCC. Re-shipping costs are the member's responsibility.
33 Address accuracy.
Members are responsible for providing and maintaining a current, accurate shipping address. HCC is not responsible for shipments lost or delayed due to incorrect addresses.
34 No substitutions or exchanges.
Shipment contents are not customizable. Members may not request specific items, substitutions, or exchanges for shipment products.

Wine Selection Add-On

35 Optional benefit.
The Reserve Wine Selection is an optional add-on to The Reserve membership at an additional annual fee (currently $100/year). It is not included in the base membership.
36 Texas residents only.
The Wine Selection add-on is available only to members with a Texas shipping address, due to alcohol shipping compliance requirements. Eligibility is determined at the time of enrollment and verified at time of shipment.
37 Wine selection at HCC's discretion.
Wines included in the add-on shipments are curated by Hill Country Chocolate and may include selections from HCC's cellar and partner wineries. Specific wines, varietals, or brands are not guaranteed.
38 Cancellation of wine add-on.
Members may cancel the Wine Selection add-on at any time. Cancellation does not affect the base Reserve membership or its benefits. If a wine shipment has not yet been sent for the current period, it will still be fulfilled.
39 Pricing subject to change.
The Wine Selection add-on fee may be adjusted at renewal. Members will be notified of price changes with reasonable notice prior to their renewal date.

Exclusive Events and Early Access

40 Invitations, not guarantees.
Membership includes invitations to exclusive events. Attendance may be subject to capacity limits, RSVP requirements, and separate event fees (if applicable).
41 Early access windows.
Product early access periods are typically 48 hours before public availability. Exact timing will be communicated via email.
42 Non-transferable.
Event invitations and early access links are for the named member only unless otherwise stated.

Cancellation and Refunds

43 Cancellation at any time.
Members may cancel their membership at any time by contacting Hill Country Chocolate directly prior to their membership being renewed or auto-renewed.
44 No prorated refunds.
Membership fees are non-refundable once processed. Cancellation will prevent future auto-renewal but does not generate a refund for the current membership period.
45 Benefits end at cancellation.
All membership benefits (discounts, tastings, shipments, event access) cease upon cancellation or expiration. If a shipment has not yet been sent for the current period, it will still be fulfilled.
46 Renewal pricing.
Renewal pricing is at the then-current standard membership rate. Founding Member promotional rates apply to the initial membership year only unless otherwise communicated.

Founding Member Terms

47 Founding Member designation is permanent.
Members who join during the transition period from the wine club receive a permanent "Founding Member" designation on their card and in HCC records.
48 Founding Member pricing applies to year one.
The $199 Founding Member rate applies to the first year of membership only. Subsequent renewals are at the then-current standard rate (currently $249/year).
49 Limited availability.
Founding Member status is available only to existing wine club members during the designated transition offer period. Once the window closes, it cannot be applied retroactively.

Privacy and Data

50 Member information.
Hill Country Chocolate collects and stores member contact information, purchase history, and preferences to administer the membership program, fulfill shipments, and communicate relevant offers and events.
51 Communication.
By joining The Reserve, members consent to receive email communications related to their membership, including shipment notifications, event invitations, renewal reminders, and occasional marketing content. Members may opt out of marketing emails at any time but will continue to receive transactional membership communications.

Liability

52 No liability for third-party products.
Hill Country Chocolate is not liable for issues arising from third-party wines or products included in shipments.
53 Responsible consumption.
Members acknowledge that alcohol consumption carries inherent risks and agree to consume responsibly.
